OK, Jason, I'll check with the KFPR FBO today and see what they have on overwater regulations, including flotation. If I do get any info, I'll get in touch. The FBO is located next to the U S Customs building, and refuels all incoming and outgoing Bahamas, Turks, Caicos, etc. aircraft - they sell a lot of fuel!

Oh, I most certainly agree! I'd want life vests and perhaps more (like a
quick inflate raft) with me if I went over water very far. I was just
curious to if there were any direction on the matter in the regulations.

You have peaked my interest in regulations that I presume are related to
flying to the Bahamas. Where would I find them? I rent a Tampico (SOCATA
TB-9) that has made the trip out a few times and may try the feat myself.

As for my particular 'coupe, I don't know if I could go to a US territory...
I know I can't go out of the country (as in Mexico or Canada) without
special permission as I have the small "NC" numbers. But that's a different
discussion.

Aim High! Go Air Force!
(Grin... I was in the Air Force... Sorry)

Jason, nobody on this string is talking about "regulations", just common
sense. Of course, you don't HAVE to have flotation to fly to the Keys, but
you and your pasenger would sure be glad if you needed such! Converely, the
Regulations would apply if you were flying from Ft pierce to the Bahamas in
a Coupe! Good luck with that!

I'm looking and can't find anything in Part 91 that says anything pertaining
to required items for "out of glide distance - over water" operations. In
part 91, I see requirements for large/turbine aircraft and another list for
"for-hire" flights... But neither would apply to me I guess.

I'm not saying there aren't regulations requiring flotation devices and
such... Just that I can't find them.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

- Jason
