I have searched (in vain) for some "official" information on what is required to accomplish a model change on an airframe. There just don't seem to be any official guidelines.
Bill points out that a 337 apparently isn't required, either. In this case, I would argue that filing a 337 even though it is not required is not a good idea. My hindsight is 20/15. What I think is required, is a form 8130-6 application for a new airworthiness certificate. All, As an afterthought, the conversion of a C or CD to a D is also allowed by note 3 on TCDS A-718. And therefore no 337 should be required, but look what confusion this is now creating. (albiet to those who no 337 was filed and a logbook or entry was "lost" has increased the real value or their Coupe by about $10,000) Bill _____ To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [email protected] From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Fri, 1 Feb 2008 10:16:11 -0600 Subject: RE: [ercoupe-tech] Rudder Pedals John and all, I agree with you. Since I am an A&P-IA and it doesn't cost anything to file a 337 I prefer to create a permanent record. I don't file for any minor repair but when there is any doubt I do. It is too easy to lose log books and it saves a lot of heartache later if there is a permanent record. I always file if there is a change in weight and ballance or electrical load which there is in this case (6 lbs. @+18 inches) I usually call the local FSDO and ask if they want a 337, as a matter of interest they have never said NO. Ergo, a log book entry is sufficient. I purchased the Univair kit. My mechanic believes that he needs to get field approval for this mod. Any comments?? Bill Buhles N94157 Yahoo!
