You are correct Jerry. However, the DPE asking the question is a
Sport Pilot examiner and trainer, and the question that I posed to
the EAA was specific to the Sport Pilot practical test. The answer
came back the same in both cases. I could ask my DPE to resubmit the
question to the FAA, but I doubt that the answer will come back
different.

I am happy that some people are able to get their license with a 2-
control aircraft (the Ercoupe is the only such aircraft allowed by
the FAA) and not get the "Ercoupe without rudder pedals"
restriction. My DPE will not do that for me as he is a stickler for
doing things by the book.

After I get my Sport Pilot ticket, I may well pull the rudder pedals
out. Anyone interested in a used set of rudder pedals?
