I think you meant to say "and one from frame A to frame B ( stainless, later
models)"

 

The difference between the two stainless skins is the location of the hole
for the filler neck.

 

I've attached a photo that shows the location of the stainless skin.

 

The correct way to install it is to cut out the aluminum skin and rivet the
stainless skin in its place.  I agree that installing the stainless over the
existing aluminum skin is a good idea but there is no approval basis for
that procedure, so you are on your own as far as that goes.
