I'd say budget in the vicinity of $5k.

 

$1000 for each cylinder and $1000 for the extra stuff like labor and small 
parts. Maybe an exhaust stack that needs replacement.

As Jerry said, there are a lot of variables. Definitely plan on more man hours 
than 10. If you are using a mechanic who is not familiar with the Ercoupe/small 
Continental baffling system, the time can grow quite rapidly. I would recommend 
getting a fixed cost for removal and reinstallation of the cylinders. If your 
mechanic is familiar with the engine, the fixed cost portion should not be a 
problem.
    Reusing the old cylinders can reduce the costs, but be sure to find an 
engine shop that is familiar with those cylinders.
