I DID IT!!!I DID IT!!!  Just followed Hartmuts instructions, and now I have 
Voltage on my Garmin 296.  Darn that is swell, and saves me a voltmeter as 
well.  Thanks Hartmut - for pointing that out AND telling us how to do it.  I 
am showing 7.6 volts in the handheld mode.  Now I am going to set the alarm to 
tell me when flying if it falls below 12.5 I think.
