Exactly right. The C lands around 48-52 mph. The D lands around 55-60 mph The E and later land around 48-52, about the same as the C. These numbers can vary depending on CG and, maybe, other factors. > The difference in weight on the wings would > depend on the thickness of the metal and > the process used on the fabric covers. I've long quoted the 40 pound difference between fabric covered and metal covered wings. That was the "old wisdom" I'd learned from old writings. One day, during one of these discussions, a member went to his hangar and weighed a metalized wing and a non-metalized wing which I presume had its fabric covering on it. He reported about a 20 pound difference for the one wing. I can't guarantee that the "fabric" wing had all its fabric, coatings and paint on it but he didn't say it was stripped as I recall. Hartmut has been quoting the 40 pound difference between a pair of wings with regular metalized coating versus stripped wings, then saying the stripped wings will need to take into account the weight of fabric, dope and paint. He may be right - I've not weighed any wings, myself. It'd be nice to get new definitive weighings of wings. > Sorry that I addressed this to you. Sorry if I didn't make that clear, Kevin. There's no ban against addressing a person in a facts-only or positive manner. What is strongly discouraged are comments that disparage the person or their ideas. On that theme, we'd rather he didn't call you a dumXXX. :-) Your response to Don, for example, is an excellent example of helping others in a positive manner. However, when we disagree with someone's facts or ideas, it's best just to discuss those facts and ideas. Thanks, everyone for helping keep this forum a positive experience. Ed
