The split elevator did not come from the factory on either the 415-D or
415-CD. It first appeared on the 415-E Model.

A word of caution... If you are considering buying a C model with a
split elevator, look at the paperwork for that elevator VERY
carefully. The split elevator came from the factory on D and later
models so getting one legal on a C would require more than a log book
entry if it is really a C. I compare it to an O-200 engine
installation. .. it was never approved for a C on the type
certificate. It was approved by STC but only for the D and later.
Getting one in a C would require a field approval. I believe the same
principal is true for the split elevator. If I found a C with a split
elevator, it would make me want to study the logs cover to cover to
see if any other "unusual" modifications were made, legally or
otherwise.
