Mine came from Ercoupe with the lever on the panel, I can send you a photo if 
you desire.  Big red thing that you cannot mix up with anything else, I just 
love it.
The mechanizm is stone simple, it is just a rod with a yoke on it hooked onto 
the valve, coming back thru the panel, I bet your parts manual has a drawing of 
it even.  I just today saw my first coupe with the clunky under dash setup, I 
would not get along with that at all.  This one also has a fuel gauge inside 
near the floor on the left side.  Again, I far prefer my crude but effective 
wires dancing on each wing unless I have emptied the wing tanks.  I am 
constantly amazed at some of the simple but very effective design tricks of the 
coupe.
