This kind of stuff is why commercial software companies aren't in a
big hurry to support Linux. Too easy to hack.
I predict that Adobe will place itself under the Linux steamroller
rather than ride along.
(BTW, I did the same hack, writing a new gettimeofday, for Fraunhoefer
Institute's MP3 encoder a few months ago. Worked good.)
