Bruce hit the home run with his answer. I am trying to save my pack from
premature death (once I install a new pack; the current pack is only worth
core value). I plan to get a small rugged PC and monitor the pack in use
(driving) and charging. The best bet is probably to use a DMM with serial
port hooked to a PC. Then, I can get all the data I want. I can measure
voltage and current with time. I can calculate AH in, AH used in driving,
etc. This is the best solution and the one that is easiest for me with my
skill set. I will also integrate a small relay box to control various
things, one of them being the charger shutoff. BTW, the car is a 1991
Toyota Celica conversion, not that old orange car I have in my EVAlbum
profile. I'm still in the process of parting out the orange car and
replacing it with the newer red Celica. I just got the clear title this
week, so I want to get it up and running soon. That way I can take the
orange car off the road and finish parting it out. Until I get all these
loose ends resolved, I am stuck driving the orange car, so I am trying to be
quick about it because the new car is much better to drive.
