(plugin's L1 EVSE was vandalized + vehicle damaged)
]

With 15+ years of EV driving experience, especially pushing my driving
envelope with six on-board chargers and go out to places unknown when EVs
were rare, and subject to the evils of the public, I have first hand
experience with vandalism (sometimes people do bad things).

IMO A long time ago I posted to the evdl that Production plugins (both EVs
and plug-in-hybrids) sold in the Americas should have a simple level-1 male
5-15 inlet
https://www.google.com/#q=5-15+inlet&tbm=shop&spd=10188452605212883840
An inlet much like what conversion EVs use: simple, cheap, and easy to use.

Having an expensive $450 EVSE cord-set that can & will be vandalized just
does not make sense to me when the level-1 EVSE could be built-in /
on-board, and AC connected via an inexpensive inlet (above). Then only an
inexpensive power cord is exposed to vandals, and its replacement is cheap
and easy to obtain.

I am thinking some circuitry would needed (some relays handling the AC power
for isolation) that would sense if their was AC power on either of the
couplers and the inlet. Then only one power input could be used at a time.

When searching on how to mount a 5-15 inlet, I found

When I proposed on the Volt forum that perhaps Volt owners should to ask
that GM include that option in their next version, I was promptly shot down
for fears of handling a live wire/extension cord while standing water when
it is raining. And that GM's lawyers would think similarly. So, the Volt
isn't likely to run with my idea.

But would it violate a warranty to add a 120VAC inlet connected to an
on-board L1 EVSE?
Or, could it only be done on an older used Production plugin where the
warranty has expired?
