Zeke explains that he lives on top of a hill with a least 2 miles downhill from 
his home to town.
I also have had the experience of crossing a sizeable mountain range (Santa Cuz 
mountains are nearby)
and the result that the Prius battery (half full at he top) reaches max charge 
before reaching
the end of the downslope, then the regen goes away and it is back to engine- 
and foot-braking.

I have to say, if your battery is full after two miles is it because of the
ICE.  If you drive up and down hills using regen your battery will be
draining, albeit less quickly.
