/"The wind losses are proportional to the cube of *speed* period."/ To clarify, the drag force is proportional to vehicle speed squared. Power, or energy/time, is the product of this force and vehicle speed, so is proportional to speed cubed. Then the work done per unit time against this force is proportional to the cube of vehicle speed, which is what I think is meant in the above by "wind losses".
