If you have a title it is pretty much a slam dunk, after you get the parts you
want pulled Google on the online car salvage buyers. In my area there is a
network working under the name (IIRC) "Sellusyourcaronline.com" or similar. I
sold them 4 or 5 cars last year and frankly they gave me what I consider all
the money I could have hoped for. They will ask if its drivable or what is
missing, just tell them it doesn't have an engine or trans. I called them up,
they gave me a firm price on the phone and made an appointment to get the car.
The flat bed driver called to confirm, showed up with cash in hand took the
title and loaded the car. Couldn't have been easier or more pleasant for me. If
there isn't someone buying junk cars online in your area I would recommend
putting it on Craigslist for a small amount of money, say 100 bucks. You will
probably be surprised at how many people are out there looking for scrap to
recycle or cars they can get cheap and part out or scrap. They might want to
haggle but the bottom line is that they will take the car away and give you
something. For instance, 2 weeks ago I had a perfectly good but low end dining
table that my SO wanted me to take to the dump as Goodwill and SVDP wouldn't
pick it up. Rather than load it by myself in the truck, spend $5 on fuel and
pay a $20 dump fee I put it on Craigslist for $30 bucks. I had 3 calls in 2
days and a newly divorced dad came by loaded it up, handed me $30 and thanked
me profusely for it. You could also consider donating it to your favorite
charity. They usually have someone ready to pick up junk cars and you could get
a tax coupon for the donation. Dach.

I didn't have any takers on my "Starter EV, Just Add Batteries" offer.  So
I'm just going to take out all the EV components and scrap the car.  What's
the procedure for getting a motor-less car to a junk yard?  Do you have to
pay them to pick up the car, or do they just come and take it off your hands
for whatever remaining parts it may have?

Thanks,

Bill
