A sail is impractical, unmanageable, a very good way to tip over with out a keel or daggerboard. Please do not try this. Pedaling adds almost nothing as most of us have a hard time producing 100Watts continuously. Although it is good for you.
You may notice that wind energy is only very high up, and to get ROI you need a large scale. So called small wind energy is a money pit with no real payback - you need an exceptional location for a small turbine to be worth the effort. Geothermal is costly because you can't drill a deep hole just anywhere and it costs a lot, then you have to deal with the difficult chemicals that come up with the steam (arsenic for example).
