I own a 17 Volt as well, I use it almost daily for small trips and the
range "guess-o-meter" is all over the place these days. Pretty sure too it
calculates on previous trip usage, driving habits but even with all that
being the same the outside temperature seems to have the largest effect
these days. Temperatures in my area fluctuate pretty wildy in winter
(+10c today, -10c just 3 days ago). No way to tell for sure if there is
any battery degradation unless she takes it for a long drive till the
battery is drained and it switches over to Hybrid mode. Then when the
vehicle shuts off you can view the "energy consumption since last charge"
screen (pops up automatically) to see how many KW the battery put out. I
think the max I've seen is 13.7KW. Volts typically only use their
batteries in the 10-90% range so even fully charged and plugged in they
aren't being overcharged but I wouldn't leave it plugged in
continuously for long periods either.
