The most logical response so far!  I never do a complete stop if there is no
obvious approach of other vehicles, especially in a low MPH stop location.  I
guess this is called human based AI for intersections!  I would also like to
add that I've driven Tesla's and I'm not that impressed with their software for
autonomous driving.  Let's keep in mind landing an airplane is probably
considerably easier with autonomous software than driving a car.  There is a
magnitude of variations with road driving compared to landing on a runway with
navigation lights and specific markings on the runway.

Just thought I'd through my 2 bits in.

From an AI point of view, I don't see that there is a significant difference
between coming to a stop before proceeding, and rolling through without
stopping.
EIther the AI detects the other vehicle/pedestrian or it doesn't. I don't think
coming to a complete stop before crossing an intersection will make a
difference (to the AI)

Humans have a relatively narrow field of view, so the purpose of stopping is to
remind them to look both ways before proceeding.  An AI driven car doesn't need
to stop and turn it's head to see in both directions.
