It won’t be changing the checkin scan time of the actual circ transaction 
either… not much of anything to worry about.

We do have a bookdrop/sorter now, but back before then checkin/checkout was 
always kept separate.  On a designated workstation, that while doing checkins, 
that was all it would be doing.  (Available for other circ functions at other 
times, but not while doing a round of checkins.)

What statistics are you worried about doubling?

Unless I'm very much mistaken, the only thing that happens when you check-in an 
item that is already checked in is that you update the time/date stamp on the 
item.  (ie it'd show that user JDoe last scanned the item at such and such date 
and time).

If you are having issues with staff carelessly not checking items in, I think 
you should be able to institute a double scan procedure without effecting 
statistics.
