This is a difficult question to answer. I've always assumed that the issue was 
a PICNIC issue (problem in chair, not in computer) and gotten on the staff for 
not keeping their eyes on the screen while checking items in. But the issue 
actually got worse after we migrated to Evergreen, so I asked staff to go 
slower in addition to keeping their eyes on the screen. I also asked them to 
watch for item details to show up on the list. The lack of details seemed to be 
an indicator that the item did not get checked in; but not all the time. Then a 
staff member showed me an example of an item that captured the details but did 
not get checked in. It is a very difficult issue to capture in real-time for 
documentation of an issue.

I like the double check in procedure as an alternative to patrons thinking we 
are incompetent.

Hi,

Out of curiosity (and just to double-check that there isn't a lurking bug), is 
the double-checkin process meant to address concerns about library staff 
forgetting to check in the items in the first place, or is there something else 
going on?

person to do the second check. The only problem with that occurs when the first 
person is looking for work to do and isn't allowed to do the second check in of

We have had some issues with items getting to the shelves and not getting 
checked in. We are a small library and have two pages; noRFID or automatic 
sorters.



We were going to add a double check to our process but not sure of the best way 
to do that without recording double stats.



Any ideas appreciated!
