More or less, but "AI" is a bit relative. I agree with Hofstadter "AI" is when the program are not yet written, and once written we take them as conventional programming. That is not strictly true, but there is something in it.

The last time I took a course in AI, in the late 70's, the professor explained that intelligence was defined as "whatever the computer can't do yet".

Exactly. (But one day it may be "what people can't do yet" !)

Even if machines stop to progress, one day they might be more clever than us. It is enough that human get more stupid, and the "education environment" might be going in that way.
