The 2nd law is even more fundamental than a law of  physics, it's more like
a law of logic; it's just the result of there being VASTLY more ways to be
disorganized (high entropy) than organized (low entropy). So however a
physical law changes a system, when it is done with it the system will
almost certainly be in a higher entropy state than it was before the
changes happened.

In different parts of the multiverse the other laws of physics might be
different, but the only universe where the 2nd law would not be true would
be a universe already at maximum entropy, a universe that had zero free
energy (work), a universe with no structure which contained nothing but
white noise. That would be about as dull as it gets, so we can say that in
every universe of even the slightest interest the 2nd law must be true
