Bruno has a specific definition of God, it appears, which is separate from all other definitions. He could have called it something else, maybe "The One" would be clearer, but he's given his definition for use in discussions of a particular topic. This is the opposite of what O'Brien says. The 1984 equivalent would be to redefine *everyone's* use of "God" to mean "Big Brother" not to confine it that usage to a discussion of one particular topic (i.e. "comp").
