With the definition you gave in a preceding post, and with which I
agree, everyone believe in some God. The question is always: which
one? And where it does come from, and why.
All philosophers and most scientists have some idea about what is
fundamental reality - but (unless they are theologians) they
recognize it is just a working hypothesis. I'd say most people
don't even think about it enough to have a definite opinion.
Well, it might be about time. Many people don't think to this,
because we abandonned the subject to professional brainwashers since
a long time.
Most people are just not interested in fundamental science. Usually
people like to take things for granted, and dislike doubting
everything, as Descartes knew already we have to do if we search
truth.
This is indeed the sort of attitude that underlies blind acceptance
that we must put the economy before the environment. Lots of
politicians still answer environmental issues with economic "truths"
as though that ended the matter.
I think they are right.
The problem is that nobody knows the economic truth, and it is a hell
of a problem on bounded large surface, and ... well, the more urgent
problem is that the governments world wide are influenced by people
who search only limited, in time, profits for minorities (bandits).
"If you think the economy is more important than the environment,
try holdnig your breath while you count your money"
"if you think physical reality is more important than mathematics,
try throwing away your computer and flying to the Moon"
There is no problem between economy, quality of life and environment.
There is only problem when people use money to hide the cheap and
simple solution to the problems, to build fake industry, like with
cancers, oils, programmed obsolescence, and a large part of the
"terror and war" game.
In 1910, Henri Ford already asked why to use non renewable oil and not
renewable hemp?
The existence of prohibition is a symptom which makes nothing possible
in all matters, except for a minority of bandits which today have
succeeded in taking all the middle class into hostage.
Fears and catastrophe sellers got into power. That's the problem. The
environment is only one symptom among others. Radical Islam is another
one. There are others.
