That was a Tyran trick to train people obeying to them. So why do you take this seriously. The christian student of Hypatia were divided into civilised people discussing math, physics and reality, and radicals defending the use of terrestrial authoritarian means to covert people by terror and violence, together with the exploitation of the (natural) fear of death, and (artificial, based on lies) fear of the others. Millions of people have believed that Earth is flat, but here, people accept that they were wrong when the got the data and the explanations. The same can be done with any concept. Only radicals dislike that move, because their agenda is control, not the search of truth.
