True, but it's equally impossible to refute the idea that
everything including rocks is conscious. And if both a theory and
its exact opposite can neither be proven nor disproven then
neither speculation is of any value in trying to figure out how
the world works.
If everything is conscious, then how do we know? We have no
unconscious objects to compare them with. The panpsychist argument
becomes an ouroboros that consumes itself into a vacuous condition of
either true or false. Nothing can be demonstrated from it, so it is a
scientifically worthless conjecture.
The best definition of consciousness is that it defines those annoying
episodes between sleep.
