True. Around here, we are beginning a huge push away from PSTs altogether. The
battle has begun...

seem to have roadblocks anytime I go to do something?

Or (depending on size) export it to PST and drop a copy on the local machine
THEN add it to their Outlook.

I know this isn't ultimately the fix for your problem but, why not just add it
as an additional mailbox in his Outlook profile?

Subject: [Exchange] Why oh why does Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010 always seem
to have roadblocks anytime I go to do something?

Ok... every time I go to do something with Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010 when
it comes to sharing or delegating it seems nothing ever works as one would
think or at least not intuitively.
In this case I have a manager that has been replaced with a new manager.

We simply wanted the new manager to be able to open the old managers email
account for historical purposes.
I went in and gave the new manager full access to the account.
I then went into the new manager's outlook and did a file / open / other user's
and opened up her mailbox.
Awesome... it worked.
Now we want to simply close it in outlook so you right-click on the mailbox and
choose close and get the following error:

"This group of folders is associated with an e-mail account."
Now you would think it would just close... heck no... you get an error that
doesn't really lead you to what to do. I have done some searching and it looks
like I would have to do some registry changes to close it.

It is so irritating to do what you think would be simple things only to keep
hitting these little roadblocks.
Obviously I am not an Exchange / Outlook Expert or I would have probably known
this was going to happen and how to properly set this up or prevent it, but it
should not be difficult. Heck... open another user's mailbox... then close the
dang thing.
