I had the same thing happen to me last week. I used a company called Vipro (www.vipro.com) They retrieved my data and I paid them 3000rub. Person's name is Pavel but speaking Russian is a good idea.

Hope this helped... :)

Hi, Expatniki. I have an old desktop that died -- it won't turn on, so I suspect the processor is dead (?). I need to extract all my files, including email files (which are apparently hard to locate on the hard drive). I have a couple of computer guys, but I am a bit nervous about their level of expertise. Can anyone provide recommendations?
Many thanks
