IIRC, this should be:
hda=1108,255,63
(or if you could get to the initial lilo prompt,
CHS=1108/255/63
also works.)
If you re-install, you might try giving this as an additional argument to
lilo during the lilo setup routine.

Sound more and more like a BIOS problem, not a disk problem or a Linux
problem. Is it flash-able? The latest BIOS for the mobo? This may be
something to look at.
