Phil,

I run Asus/Intel which are Linux friendly. I wonder if the CPU is the
culprit? W95 won't recognize most new hardware but W98 will..M$ added
support for more than 1000 new brands in W98. Incidentally, I resolved
every modem problem I ever had by buying an external model.
