You're right, if I had the entire thread. Sorry about that but I don't have too many
days of this list and either missed it or never got it. I've got over 1,000 from
this and the newbie list combined in just a few days.
Being grayed out in the BIOS makes me think there's something set on the board that
the BIOS thinks it's got to disable the ability to modify modem settings. Somewhere
in the ton of messages I seem to remember something about trying a lot of other
configurations and the conclusion that the board was bad. If so, then all this is
moot anyway.
And you're absolutely right about setting it to some other port, etc. If it won't
allow that, then either the board itself is bad, there's some setting on the board
needing changing or the BIOS could be updated - maybe. A lot of things to check if
necessary, but I'd take the board back if new and try something else. If not, then
sounds like a lot of detailed troubleshooting is needed.
