I've had perfect luck getting 4.0.2 installed, all you have to do is when it asks you if you want to overwrite anything in /etc, say NO. If you already have X 4.0.1 installed, it will work without changes. If you don't (ie, LM gave you the 3.3.6 x server instead), just install the 4.0.1 RPMs manually from your CD, and then install the 4.0.2 binaries from xfree86.org.
