It may have something to do with watching rules changes in this class, or lack of them, we have a lot of issues that never seem to have resolve. take a look at the fasttrack issues, there are pages and pages of rule changes, rewording, alternative equipment for other classes that are having problems finding parts etc. meanwhile in 500 you have to have the entire class on paper complaining and very little is happening, its not very appealing to someone coming in. Every other class in the scca has had many rule changes, additions ,approval of alternate equipment for hard to find parts that are getting scarce etc. 500 appears to have had only the necessary changes made to even stay in existence. For "some reason" and we all know what it is, this class is purposely held back from growing or adjusting as necessary! look at the back issues and the topics of change in the past scca fasttracks, all you have to do is look at the amount of action discussed in all the classes , you really have to dig for a line or 2 on the 500's.

A big "Thank You" to Stan for compiling participation data.

Let's first...find out WHY F500's are less appealing to the masses.

SM. has way more mass appeal and will naturally attract more attention and
interest from people newly exposed to racing.

>From a dollar perspective, if you want to be halfway competitive, my past
"prod" (always chasing rules changes) and F500 experience has me firmly
believing the only thing cheaper then F500 racing is RC racing.

Our participation problem/s may not lie with the car but with people. If
it's the latter, then don't "fix" the car you "sell it, sell it, sell, it".
A free atta boy to first one to guess who used that phrase!
