Chuck, I unstyfled thyself!!! It isn't a matter of what's faster, HELLO!!!
It's how the wrapper looks on the outside. Every single kart guy that I asked
about F500 said excatly the same thing, cool car, where's the shifter.
I sugested some time ago, like last year, that maybe their should be a 600
bike motor that could run in the same class, maybe add weight. I think the
idea was shot down because it was thought a whole new design was required.
The rage among us gray haired karters has been the Tag karts. TAG stands
for touch and go. They are electric start, 125cc, water cooled with a
centrifical clutch. I don't know what the cone guy rules are, but I guess they
could run one of those.

Like DSR, there could be equality between 2-stroke CVT and 4-stoke w. tranny

SCCA is also sorta making it work between different 4-strokes like Zetec
and Pinto.
There is only about a 10% displacement increase for 4-strokes in DSR (1000
vs 900)
It might have to be a 20% delta in F500/? to get up to a common MC or ATV
4-stroke size.
"Forumla 56" for 500 and 600cc motors?
Just as an aside, not wanting to restart the old agruments (please muffle
thyself Chris!), I have doubts that shifting makes the class any more
attractive in the long run.
In something as fast paced as a Solo event, shifting shore lacks appeal.
Many F125 guys have commented on how they wish they had my car with no
shifting. I blow by a lot of them when we are lined up together at the
ProSolos.
In straight line and long corner dominated road couse, one could probably
live with the annoyance of shifting :->.
Noise also can't be an issue. 2-strokes can be just as quiet, perhaps
quieter taking advantage of the constant RPM provided by a CVT.
So..please be careful to not throw the baby out with the dishwater.
