Matt Get all the paint off it and literally go over it with good lighting and a magnifying glass. The dye kits work ok on smooth surfaces, the problem with them is around a weld that may not have had the "toes" of it flowed in well. Those areas will look like cracks. Any Red Devil I have seen was originally mig welded and a lot of those welds look a little on the cold side with kinda rope like beads( mig welds don't have to be like that). The dye kits I have used were worthless on those.
