So did my Bonanza back in 84 but I used to find which cyl was running the
leanest and set the mixture (a tad richer)for that one rather than
constantly switching between cylinders while flying and I had a lot more
time than one does going down a straight when racing to go fiddling with
switches for an EGT.

Richard, sorry maybe I miss the point but nearly every multible cylinder
engine uses seperate venturi's and fuel metering devices, do the V8 cars
use 8 egt's?
That was a tongue and cheek comment, using a $900 gauge on an old F440
motor...

Chris,
I have to take exception to your statement.
First, I don't know where you get your engines for $50. Let the rest of us
in on it.
If you run a two cylinder engine with more than one carburetor, you need
two
EGT gauges. I am not sure what type of racing you do, but even in road
racing, where sometimes you have relatively long straights, I still would
not have time to switch my one EGT display between two probes. Plus trying
to remember after the race which cylinder was reading high would be very
tough. (did I have the switch to the left or right when I saw 1300 degs ?)

I always say , $50 motor, $50 gauges!!! Any of those guages are worth
more than that motor!!! There's no reason to run 2 separate egt's, you can
run 2 leads with a switch to look at each, you can also use a separate
water
temp gauge. I wouldn't waste money on the latest and greatest gauges for
that motor....

I run the Kaw 440 so there are two EGTs, plus one water equals 3!
