Because with a bike engine these cars will not be the simple formula car
that they are now.
If I wanted a car with a bike engine I would find a Formula Ford that needed
an engine and gearbox and put a bike motor in it! That would lower the cost
big time for driving a car like that.
But putting the bike engine in a F500 will bring out all the extra cost that
everyone forgets they get started on the car of their dreams. Before I
would put a ton of money into my 89 Zink I would take that hard earned money
and find one of the newer cars like Jay's or from Q!
Also, there are places I have run in a Solo II (non SCCA events) were in the
average F440/F500 you always want both hands on the wheel. In Solo II not
shifting is the way to go in these cars! Every you shift you add fractions
of second which is the difference between winning and loosing!

Bob, not to be an ass, but why do you think the sowmobile 4 stroke cvt
would be cheaper???

many of us went to F440/F500 not
just for the 2 stroke engine, but the CVT! If I were a younger man and
were
going to me in this for another 20 years, I would push for the 4stroke
snowmobile engine very hard! It will not be easy to come up with the
correct size or engine to use, but by staying with the cvt concept it
would
still be a lot cheaper than going to a motorcyle engine!

Wrong, the real starting point is considering which 4 stroke snowmoble
engine with cvt that we or future F500 owners are going to want to
use!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm cheap. 8-)
I figure it would be cheapest to get a motorbike engine, but a 4 stroke
snowmobile engine could be interesting.
