My old Red Devil is a "center drive" and has a very short center to center distance between the jackshaft and rear axle.I run gearing in the 25/120 range and don't get much belt wrap on the front driver. I made up a roller to keep the belt from slipping on the driver. I run it with light contact to the back of the belt. I've not had any problems running a belt once the initial "tracking" and tension is set.
