Hi all, Thanks for the belts replies... I've been swamped at work, and just managed to take a look at the belt carnage yesterday evening.
damage that you didn't see. Perhaps a pebble got caught up in the belt and caused the failure. There could be many explanations beyond the width of the
I think this is the culprit. Looking at the belt where it broke, its a break straight across one of the valleys. You can see the belt matrieial (glass, kevlar, whatever it is) frayed all the way across _except_ at a small (1-2mm) section towards one side, where if you put the two halves back together, it looks like there was a puncture prior to the break. Given that I found _two_ spares in my spares collection, I figure I'll try again on the same setup. My belt is reasonably long (1440 w/ the road race gears puts the gears a fair distance apart), so I don't think suspension travel is the problem, and the pebble theory seems the best at the moment. Anyway, thanks again to all the replies, I'll let you all know how it goes in two weeks at the next event. -Chris '00 Red Devil ________________________________ FormulaCar Magazine - A Proud Supporter of Formula 500 The Official Publication of Junior Formula Car Racing Subscribe Today! www.formulacarmag.com or 519-624-2003 _________________________________ _______________________________________________ F500 mailing list - [email protected] To unsubscribe or change options please visit: http://f500.org/mailman/listinfo/f500 *** Please, DO NOT send unsubscribe requests to the mailing list! ***
