Gene, call Mike Q, last I know he had the cells in stock. He buys in quanity, so I think you'll get a better price than if you buy direct. CR

The metal neck just slides into the rubber neck and then is clamped with a hose clamp. I may be stating something obvious, but I figure... Fuelsafe made the fuel cells. Real cost is closer to $1000 (sorry...) There has been some discussion of repair, but a 1990 cell has done it's duty. You have to take the seat out and the metal surrounding the cell off. We have found that using a shop vac to collapse the fuel cell seems to simplify the process greatly. If you have to take it out, bring a beer. You will bleed. You will curse. jim ----- Original Message ---- From: Gene Bennett To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, April 28, 2007 9:20:06 PM Subject: [F500] I'm out Well, I had a double Regional this weekend and the fact I'm posting this on Saturday afternoon might tell you that it didn't go great... Actually, the morning practice was great, I spent a good chunk of it reeling in an SRF and passed him coming out of the last corner, then the checker flew. :-) I got back to the paddock, went to refuel the car and the weekend ended for me. When I removed the fuel cap the entire fuel cell filler neck came off in my hand. Now the car is a 1990 KBS and it wouldn't surprise me to find out that it's the original fuel cell (I was planning on replacing it at the end of the season, NOT after the first practice session of the season!) So, the questions come: A. Where would be the best place to get a replacement? I'm assuming that it will be a custom job and I'm within (long) driving distance of Fuel Safe. Since I imagine shipping an old cell contaminated with gasoline might be a problem, that may just tip me toward them. But if anyone has a lead on a maker that would already have a pattern for it, that would be nice. II. From relatively recent discussions, I'm figuring about $600 for the cell, am I in the ballpark? 3. How do I get to the darned thing? Do I need to go in through the driver compartment or rip the entire drivetrain out? iv. Anyone have an old one that would get me by while I wait the anticipated 6-8 weeks for a replacement? I've already cut back on racing this season, I'd hate to miss the biggest event in the NW because of this.
