That antique drum must have a nice sound. Did you see
how he had his double bass pedals set-up? One was for
the modern bass and the other was for the antique
bass, but he doesn't play double bass. He just uses
one or the other bass depending upon the song. His
style is called "funk" and he has a strong New Orleans
second-line influence which gives it this type of
syncopated, triplet feel. Techniquely it's not that
hard to play, but you have to get used to placing
accents in places you're not used to.
