Also the shortest day of the year for daylight in the northern hemisphere. Probably why a lot of people are easily depressed at Christmas time unless you live in the southern hemisphere where it's the longest day.

The Sun is further officially dead in Western astrology and won't rise again until Spring on March 21, 2014.

But, as I write this note, the Sun is rising in the sign of Sagittarius from the east. And, I can see the Moon setting to the west from my window. So, all is well.
