I think he probably meant that they had gotten bored and fallen asleep 
during the lectures, and then had awakened. :)

I was also involved with her group here in FF for a few years, and 
enjoyed the insights and the friendship.  But like so many spiritual 
movements, it seemed to get dominated by people who were, to put it 
politely, somewhat unstable.  I wonder if any of the ones Rick refers 
to are some of the ones who seemed to be "cracking up"  half the time.
