As someone who has lurked in the background, I would add that documentation
needs to be improved. I am an experienced CF/Fusebox programmer but I
haven't found any good "getting started" docs. The walkthroughs are too
disorganized and there's no starting point for me, as a new FarCry
developer. Every time I think I'd like to learn FarCry, I get frustrated
with the lack of documentation for a new FarCry developer and go back to
fusebox.

Hey we hear you!

We've recently completed a revision of the Daemon FarCry Developers training course for the 2.3 code base. Which might be of interest to teams wanting instructor based training:

Next we need to take a look at how we put together more general information on getting started with FarCry -- and we're going to need help. Thanks for those on the list who have already put their hands up -- I'm wading through my task list and I'll be back to you shortly.

I believe in the power of FarCry, but the documentation is the hurdle that's
keeping me, and likely many others, from adopting it. If you want FarCry to
succeed with the number of developers Fusebox has (over 27,000 at the
moment), better documentation must become a priority. For some excellent
examples, look at www.apache.org or www.python.org for their documentation
for ideas.

Fusebox is simply a framework (not to mention there are many more flavours of fusebox then there are versions of fusebox).

FarCry by comparison is a comprehensive solution that dictates in many ways the approach to specific problems rather than simply providing a framework in which to build. If we ever attracted anywhere near the numbers of Fusebox developers we'd be very surprised! Happy mind you, but surprised.

FarCry has a lot of complications when it comes to documentation. It provides a framework for development but it's also a comprehensive solution out of the box -- a solution that is constantly evolving and improving.

But heh, I'm not making excuses -- we need to do better and we will.

For the moment our focus has been on improving user documentation. There are obvious commercial drivers for this -- but heh we have to pay close attention to paying clients ;) Expect to see a lot of activity in this space in the near future.

Thanks for the sneak peak into the future of FarCry. Maybe this time I'll
actually figure out how to program FarCry :)

Your feedback is much appreciated,
