I live outside o NYC & just got 2 stray kitties vaccinated, neutered, microchipped & FELV tested. Had s/n certificates & it still cost me $700. And my vet is far from the highest fee. We sometimes forget that vet care is getting as expensive as human med care. And when you consider that many people have more than one pet, the cost can be beyond their reach. At least w. humans, you know that if your child gets really sick, you can go to any emergency room--with pets, unless you've got the cash--you're not getting treatment. One vet about 10 miles from me charges $800 for male neuter----and has customers!
