Michelle,
Remember the girl I spoke of on the list I belong to, her cat was also
not critical according to her vet and 5 hours later he was on the verge
of dying, he went form high liver values which her vet deemed not urgent
to almost dying 5 hours later, if she had not come home for lunch to
chek on him, he would have been dead when she got home after work. He
had an emergency operation to insert the tube and it took him months to
recover and over a month before he showed any signs of feeling better.
Nobody is right all the time, and he may well not have been in as bad a
shape a day or two ago, Fatty Liver disease can get worse very quickly
and will kill if left untreated, I also am very well aware of that,
becasue a few of the kitties on the list were in very bad shape and
their parents waited too long and they were not strong enough to pull
out of it. A tube may sound scary but when Fatty Liver Disease is going
on it is the ONLY thing that is going to give a cat a chance to turn
around. If your vet didn't even bring it up when his billirubin was not
normal even if just to suggest it may be a possiblity in the future I
wouldn't be seeing that vet anymore.
