Karen,
I have put a considerable amount of time in debating
over purchasing disposable incontinence pads.
The problem with this idea is that they might work TOO
well. If I can get Dartagnan to use them the others
may as well. Then I will have twelve (12) kitties
using the disposable incontinence pads instead of
their litter boxes.
I am afraid that the pads will create a bigger
problem; however, I do not know as I have never bought
any. Does anyone else have any thoughts on these
disposable incontinence pads in a multiple cat
household?
However, I like your idea of "Cat Attract." When I buy
more cleaning supplies, I will have to pick this
product up.
Dartagnan was on Prednisone a.k.a. Pred back in
7-31-03 for a temporary cure of Feline Gingivitis
before he has all four (4) of his back molars
extracted. It did not help the spraying.
A bladder infection/inflammation was not detected in
either of his diagnostic laboratory urinalysis or
urine culture.

Lora,
I am so sorry, you have gone the extra mile and then
some. I have a couple of suggestions, don't know if
any of them will make a differance.
One, you might try prozac. I know a couple of cases
were the other meds you mention didn't work, but
prozac did.
We have a cat on prozac, the dosage is figured by
weight. Our girl is 9lb. They started her on 3 mg a
day and after a week increased her to 5mg a
day.
If you decide to try this call around different
phamacies for prices as even in the generic form the
price varies tremenously. We were paying $210.00 for
100 pills and then found the same thing at another
pharmacy for $37.
Second try Cat Attract. It's a new additive
that you mix in with the litter that is supposed to be
very good for bringing cats back to their boxes. I
think you can get it at Petco or online.
The third suggestion to buy disopable incontence pads
at a drug store. Put them slightly under and extending
in front of the litter box. Some cats will pee there,
which is easy/no mess to dispose of, when then won't
pee in the box.
One other possibility might be to try him on pred for
a few days. Some cats get inflamed bladders from
stress and then start spraying. The pred helps the
with the bladder inflamation. None of these may help,
but maybe worth a try.
