Thanks for your ideas, suggestions and your own experiences with washing
sheepskin.
I will first give it a try with insect spray (as one mentioned), and
probably, if it doesnt't work, give it a wash.
I now have the skin in a plastic bag outside on the balcony at 80C
(460F) at the moment on a foggy morning after a cool night with nearly
freezing temperatures, waiting to be treated further on.

I'd like to mention, that reading and answering to the list, helps me a
lot to keep my English on a good level. I'm sure I make mistakes
sometimes, but vocabulary is always present when I need it, like last
weekend.
I spend four days with my husband in St. Georgen, a very small village
in the Black Forest, about 80 km north of the Bodensee, for a
tabletweaver meeting. It was always an international meeting (folks from
Germany, Switzerland and Luxemburg), but this time the special guest was
a lady from Iran. Because noone of use speaks Farsi, and she didn't
speak German, we had to use English and I was surprised to see all the
older women (about the age of 60) talking to her, and the folk of my age
(I'm 35), who all(!) learned English at school, were afraid of talking
to her. They never had been in need to speak English after school and so
forgot nearly all of their lessons - that's really a pity.
You can see a photo of all the participants at
http://www.sunnie.de/pics/StGeorgen05.jpg . My husband and me are on the
top of the stairs and the lady from Iran is third from right with the
golden vest.
If someone wonder why I mention this, let me tell you something about
learning English in Germany. Nowadays the children start to learn
English in their third year at school (at the age of 8), some schools
start English lessons at the first year.
23 years ago I started with English at my fifth year at school and had
English lessons for nine years.
When my mother left school in 1953 she haven't had one single English
lesson. Other folks who could attend the Gymnasium (best second
education after primary school) would have English lessons, but it
wasn't teached at the Volksschule (the other second education school in
Germany that time). She often mentioned that it's very useful to know
and speak English as it now slowly creeps into our own language,
especially at TV: in advertising and some movie titles. She always
complains: I can't read that!
So thanks again for all your postings, help and talk about fibres and
other things,
Ilona
