Gee. You guys think you have problems -- we Canadians get it from both
sides! We have to be bi-lingual British/US (not to mention the French <g>).
You can buy a pound of butter, a litre of milk, and 200 grams of cold meats
in the same store. Some fabric shops sell by the metre and some by the yard.
It's nuts! We try to spell words with the "u" in them but if it gets left
out, nobody notices. We have our temperatures in Celsius and our gas in
litres, but you can buy 2-by-4 lumber and 8 1/2" x 11" paper. My kids were
taught totally metric in school but still express their weight in pounds and
height in feet and inches. Go figure.

As for the degree sign -- how does this look to you?

That's Alt 0176 on a PC keyboard. Hold down the Alt key and press 0176 on
the numeric key pad. Don't forget to have Num Lock on. Unfortunately I don't
know what the equivalent is for MacOS.

Hugs,
Louisa (who says "zed" instead of "zee" -- most of the time!)
