I also have a English/American/other problem :-)

Yes I speak and write English and spell in that version

But online where many of the list people are from America I have learnt how to spell and write in American English.

As for my American spellcheck - I often have to keep typing the word wrong until I can "see" a word that looks like what I want.

i.e. we spell Catalogue and Americans spell it Catalog AND then there are the Dish Cloths which we call Tea Towels. A dishcloth here is some you wipe the bench with. Oops I mean counter top :-)

Then there is local slang. Many of my list friend know exactly what I mean when I say "arvo" but if I say "how is your Mum?" I'm then asked "what.......?" Mum in America means to keep mum i.e. keep it a secret. And yes we use that secret mum here as well.

My fav online place for converting back to Imperial weights is http://www.onlineconversion.com/

the most amusing I like about the Internet is how we can find out sooooooo much about these little things but inadvertently just writing something that seems sooooo normal to ourselves and finding out about things that never happen here. Like when someone talks about bears roaming around the yard.......wow a bear in your yard! Only in a zoo here. Or even when you talk about Snowfalls in December - let alone Snow at all.........we don't do Snow on ground up here. Oh I see it out of spray cans, artificial snowfields & on Christmas Cards :-)

must away and get dinner on this nice SpringTuesday evening........yep, even that we are ahead of the rest of the world :-)
